	General Description Color - The heartwood varies from tan to a reddish brown while the sapwood is white with fine brown lines. Grain - Coarse texture and fine grain, usually straight but occasionally wavy or irregular. (unfinished Hickory pictured to the right)
	Available Grades Select & Better - Flooring contains varying wood characteristics and colors to include heavy streaks, sapwood and other imperfections as allowed. Average bundle length is 3-1/4'. 1 Common - Select & Better grade including tight knots, worm holes and stained sapwood. 2 Common - Same as 1 Common but includes open knot holes (no bigger than 1/4" in diameter), water stain and sticker stain. Could be considered "Rustic" grade.

	Properties Hardness - One of the heaviest and hardest of American hardwoods. See Relative Hardness Comparison Graph Durability - Tremendous strength and shock resistance. Has a tendency to split.
